Quotations

1956
The Douglas firs (or "false hemlocks", as their botanical name implies) are a small genus of 4 or 5 species of which 2 are natives of Western North America. . . . The name "false hemlock" is derived from the resemblance of the flexible, flattened, bluntly-pointed leaves to those of the true hemlock.
